What is the Social Selling Index?
The Social Selling Index (SSI) is a score from 0 to 100 that LinkedIn calculates for every LinkedIn account. It measures how effectively the account is being used for social selling - building a professional presence, finding prospects, sharing insight, and growing relationships.
LinkedIn introduced the SSI in 2014, originally as a Sales Navigator feature. It's now available to all LinkedIn users for free.
Aimfox displays the SSI score on the Accounts page, in the details view for a connected LinkedIn account. It gives you a quick read on how each of your accounts is performing on LinkedIn, without having to log into each one separately.
The SSI is calculated entirely by LinkedIn. Aimfox reads and displays the score - it doesn't compute, adjust, or influence it.
SSI is shown for your own connected LinkedIn accounts. It isn't displayed for Outreach Avatars.
How the score is calculated
The SSI is built from four equally weighted pillars, each worth up to 25 points:
Establish your professional brand — how complete your profile is, and whether you publish content that earns engagement.
Find the right people — how much prospecting and searching you do, including use of LinkedIn's search filters.
Engage with insights — sharing content, commenting, and interacting with other people's posts.
Build relationships — growing your network, connection acceptance rate, and response rate.
Two things about the score are worth understanding:
LinkedIn recalculates it daily, so it responds fairly quickly when account activity changes.
It reflects a rolling 90-day window, not the account's whole history. An account that goes quiet will see its score drift down as older activity falls out of the window, and an inactive account can recover over a few weeks of consistent use.
LinkedIn doesn't publish the exact formula behind each pillar.
When the score updates in Aimfox
Aimfox refreshes the SSI value it displays:
When you first connect a LinkedIn account
When you sync an account
Periodically after that
Because LinkedIn recalculates the score daily and Aimfox refreshes on its own schedule, the value in Aimfox can briefly sit behind what you'd see on LinkedIn. Syncing the account updates it.
How to check the score directly on LinkedIn
Aimfox shows the total score. To see the full breakdown by pillar, along with how the account ranks against its industry and network, check it on LinkedIn:

What the score does and doesn't tell you
The SSI measures activity, not outcomes. It reflects whether an account is doing the things LinkedIn associates with social selling — it does not measure replies, meetings booked, or deals closed. An account can hold a high SSI and generate no pipeline, and a lower-scoring account with sharper targeting can outperform it.
The most useful way to read the score is as a diagnostic rather than a target. A single weak pillar tells you something specific and actionable. If Find the right people is low, targeting is the constraint and posting more content won't fix it.
LinkedIn is actively moving away from the SSI as a headline metric. In its own guidance, LinkedIn now says the score no longer accurately reflects the modern sales environment, and that a high SSI doesn't always correlate with measurable sales outcomes. LinkedIn is pointing sellers toward AI-driven tools in Sales Navigator instead.
The score has not been retired. It's still calculated, still updates daily, and is still freely available. But treat it as one signal among several rather than a goal to optimize toward, and don't use it as the primary measure of whether your outreach is working. Your campaign metrics in Aimfox are a much more direct measure of that.
Frequently Asked Questions
Why is the SSI score in Aimfox different from what I see on LinkedIn?
LinkedIn recalculates the score daily, and Aimfox refreshes it on connect, on sync, and periodically. If the two don't match, sync the account to pull the current value.
Why don't I see an SSI score for my Outreach Avatar?
SSI is only displayed for your own connected LinkedIn accounts.
Can I improve my SSI by running Aimfox campaigns?
Campaign activity can influence the pillars indirectly, particularly Build relationships through connection acceptance rate. But the SSI isn't designed to reward automation, and improving the score is not a reason to change how you run campaigns.
My SSI dropped without me changing anything. Why?
The score reflects a rolling 90-day window, so it can fall simply because earlier activity aged out. It's also relative to your industry and network, so it can shift when the people you're benchmarked against become more active.
