Unlike other campaign types which rely on LinkedIn's search functionality, List Campaigns let you upload a fully custom audience via CSV, without any restrictions. This is the perfect campaign for experienced marketers or sales teams.
For a quick rundown, take a look at our 5-minute video guide:
The most powerful feature of List Campaigns are ๐ท๏ธ Custom Variables - any field in your CSV file can be used as a variable in your message templates. Use this to send custom coupon codes, integrate with advanced AI data scraping tools, and improve your workflows ๐
How to create a List Campaign
Step 1: Select the campaign type and settings ๐ค
Go to your Campaigns page and click the "New Campaign" button to open the campaign builder popup. Select List campaign.
Configure Settings:
After you've selected the campaign type you want, you will need to configure up the main settings for this campaigns. Like with other campaign types, you need to configure your Primary action, InMail optimization and the number of Targets you want to engage with.
Campaign settings breakdown:
๐ LinkedIn Connect: Decide if you want to send a Connection Request to your targets (recommended). If this is set to OFF, you will be able to create an InMail Only campaign, but will not engage all of your targets, only those with open profiles.
๐ง InMail Optimization: Optimize your campaign by sending Free InMails to open profiles. This feature lets you overcome LinkedIn's weekly connection invite limit, and it never uses paid InMails (recommended).
๐ฏ Targets: Specify the maximum number of targets for your campaign.
Once you are satisfied, click "Create campaign" to create a draft version of your campaign and move to the next step.
Step 2: Upload your Audience ๐
When creating a List campaign, you can provide a fully custom list of LinkedIn accounts to serve as your campaign audience.
To create your targeting, you must upload a CSV file with a list of LinkedIn URLs. The LinkedIn URL column will be your main identifier, and other columns will become available as custom variables in the campaign.
This allows you to use enriched CSVs from third-party AI Enhancement and Data Scraping tools and integrate with advanced workflows. If you use Clay.com, or something similar - this is for you. ๐ค
Important notes: ๐
List campaigns are limited to 10.000 targets. Targets over 10.000 will not be included in the campaign.
Your Custom Variables will be available only in the campaign they are originally uploaded as. To re-use them in a different campaign, you must include them in that campaign's targeting CSV upload.
CSV Formatting:
Your .CSV file must be correctly formatted so it can be used in your List Campaign targeting.
Formatting requirements:
Must have at least one column containing LinkedIn URLs.
Must have a valid header row, meaning no missing data.
Must have no missing data in the first data row.
Maximum 10.000 rows
You can find more details in our CSV Formatting Guide.
If you do not want to use custom variables in your List Campaign, you only need to include one column containing LinkedIn URLs.
Step 3: Set your campaign Flow ๐ฌ
Your campaign Flow decides what types of actions Aimfox will perform in this campaign.
Free InMails can be sent regardless of which primary action is selected. Make sure to use InMails whenever possible to make the most of your weekly action limit on LinkedIn.
Connection Request Flow
A connection request is the most common way of growing your LinkedIn network. With this flow, Aimfox will send a connection request to your campaign targets with an optional Note of up to 200 characters.
Free LinkedIn accounts can only send 5 Connection Notes per month, so including a Note in your Campaign is only available for users with a LinkedIn Premium subscription.
Follow-up messages
Your connection request can be followed up with a sequence of direct messages so you can immediately engage your new Leads and start a conversation.
This message sequence triggers when Aimfox detects that a user has accepted your connection request. You can delay every message, even the first one, allowing full customization.
Your sequence can include as many messages as you want, but we advise using no more than 2-3 to avoid spammy behavior.
All sequences stop as soon as you receive any response from that LinkedIn user.
This is done to prevent sending messages out of context.
Step 3.5: Additional Campaign Features
These extra steps improve campaign performance or allow you to gather more data. They are available on all campaign types.
Custom Variables
The most unique feature of List Campaigns is the ability to use Custom Variables in your templates. Every column in your CSV upload can be used in your Note, Message and InMail templates.
You can access the Custom Variables when creating new or editing existing templates.
In the above example, we have added two custom variables, shown in blue: "occupation" and "Second Follow-up Message". Even though Aimfox already has a defauly occupation field, you can use the same name in your CSV, and easily identify which one you are working with.
AI Enhance
Our AI Enhance feature allows you to enrich your Notes, Message Requests, and Follow-Up Messages with AI to add some variety to your campaigns. AI Enhance will help you do the following:
Make your templates more professional
Normalize longer Variables like Occupations
Add variety to your campaigns
Normal Template
VS AI Enhanced Template
Donโt forget to preview your messages and see how AI and Translate will perform for your campaign. ๐
Auto Translate
Auto-Translate lets you target users globally with each campaign. Aimfox can detect the targetโs preferred LinkedIn account language and automatically translate your campaign for maximum effectiveness. Messages can only be translated from English to other languages.
Split testing your Flows
If you're unsure which approach would work best for your audience, Aimfox allows you to create two separate Flows and test which one of them would work better.
After your campaign is created, you will be able to monitor which Flow is producing better results, and you can use that information to improve other campaigns.
Free InMails
You can optimize your campaign by using Free InMails. These InMails can be sent free of charge to Premium LinkedIn users with open profiles. This lets you save your weekly connection or message requests by replacing some of them with InMails. This step will never use your paid InMails, and as with previous steps, AI optimization and Translation are available.
Step 4: Campaign scheduling
In this campaign setup phase, users can specify the days and times when their campaign will be active. Moreover, users can send messages within a designated timezone or schedule them to be sent within the specified timeframe in the recipient's timezone by selecting the โTargetโs Timezoneโ option.
Step 5: Finalize your campaign
Once you've completed all the steps and configured everything, you'll be presented with a preview screen where you can review all the details of the campaign you've created before launching it.
When you're satisfied with everything, simply start the campaign, and you'll be all set to go!
You can start the campaign immediately or save it as a draft to launch later.
